Hand Embroidery 101 at Astrodiac Mystic Shop
This ticket is for the class session on Friday, January 30th, 5pm-8pm at Astrodiac Mystic Shop in Springville, NY! Class fee includes everything that will be used in class and tools & threads you can take home--all we need is you!
Hand Embroidery 101 is perfect for beginners looking to get started hand embroidery, as well as anyone who would like to brush up on stitching skills they haven't used in awhile! Hand embroidery is such a useful skill for crafters, quilters, clothing upcyclers and all textile artists/enthusiasts--those individuals looking to add their own unique details to their homes, clothing and belongings will delight in all of the possibilities it opens up!
In this class, students will learn all the basics they need to get started making beautiful hand embroidered projects! We will go over types of fabrics to work with and techniques & materials to ensure your fabrics hold up with your stitching, an overview of the types of threads available for stitching and inspirational/informational books, the different types of hoops and frames you can use for your embroidery and all of the information about transferring designs and stabilizing fabrics. Everything will include lots of little tips to keep embroidery enjoyable for you!
The class will be broken up into 2 segments of working an original sampler design of 6 stitches that will gives students the skills and knowledge to work so many of the patterns/designs you can find in the crafting world, or allow you to dream up your own! We will take a break in the middle of class to rest our hands/eyes while I go over information about materials, tools and more.
Students then go home with a full working knowledge of all of the basics about hand embroidery, along with the tools, materials and supplies to complete their sampler and move onto other projects!
